Will Jose Mourinho have enough bait to lure the biggest fish in football to Old Trafford?
Whether it was at Chelsea, Real Madrid or Inter Milan, Jose Mourinho was never afraid to spend to get the players he needed to be successful. And with the almost bottomless bag of cash he’s set to receive as the man in charge at Manchester United, almost no player will be off-limits to the Special One. As a result, a who’s-who of Euro superstars will be on his radar the moment he steps into his new office.
According to The Sun, Mourinho has as many as seven potential starters he’s planning to pursue this summer once he takes over at Old Trafford.
Former PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic tops the list after leaving the Ligue 1 champions, but he is joined by Everton defender John Stones, Zenit St. Petersburg centre-back Ezequiel Garay, Juventus striker Alvaro Morata, Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain, Valencia midfielder Andre Gomes and Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Mario.
Per the source, the transfer fees for the seven players alone could cost around £150 million, with any or all of the players listed likely to get major starting roles for the Red Devils immediately.
