Guardiola requests £200m Man City overhaul as he looks to tear up Citizens squad

According to the Mirror, incoming Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has insisted that the Sky Blues need a major facelift in order to achieve their objectives this term.

The Spanish coach is understood to have requested a £200 million investment as he looks to overhaul the Citizens’ underperforming options [fee per the Mirror] and make the north-west heavyweights the kind of Premier League-challenging outfit the club’s owners crave.

Guardiola clearly isn’t content with the squad assembled by Manuel Pellegrini and his predecessor Roberto Mancini, and while the side won the title as recently as 2014, they have wholly underachieved this term.

As part of his proposed overhaul of the squad, the outgoing Bayern Munich manager is understood to have requested no fewer than eight potential starting players.

The report states that of the Citizens’ current squad, Pep only considers Sergio Aguero, Fernandinho and Kevin De Bruyne—who arrived last summer—as bona fide starters, while Vincent Kompany could join this elite group if he can prove his fitness.
