Having led Chelsea to numerous titles over the course of his two spells in charge at Stamford Bridge, the majority of the club’s supporters will idolise him.
The Portuguese tactician led the club to three Premier League titles, an FA Cup, three League Cup triumphs and ultimately helped establish them as a giant in the English game.
Although his second stint ended in less than favourable circumstances given his sacking last December, he built a strong fanbase in west London with many remaining loyal to him even after his departure.
However, there are those who have been left angered and disappointed not only by the fact that Mourinho has now taken charge at Manchester United, but also his comments on Friday after the official announcement was made.
“To become Manchester United manager is a special honour in the game. It is a club known and admired throughout the world. There is a mystique and a romance about it which no other club can match.
“I have always felt an affinity with Old Trafford; it has hosted some important memories for me in my career and I have always enjoyed a rapport with the United fans.
“I’m looking forward to being their manager and enjoying their magnificent support in the coming years.”
It’s no secret that the ‘Special One’ wanted the Old Trafford hotseat at some stage in his career, and it has ultimately led to upsetting Chelsea fans who will now have to see him in the opposition dug-out at the Bridge next season.
It has only taken Mourinho talking like a United fan to bring Chelsea fans to their senses, after all those years of him coating them off.

Mourinho has got what he wanted. We were a stepping stone; an audition for his dream job. He hasn’t tainted his legacy, he has destroyed it.

“No other club can match” part wasn’t really needed Jose.

That “One of us” banner has to go.

Jose Mourinho is a traitor. I’ll keep on saying it. He once said his blood is blue, that ChelseaFC is family.

Don’t care how good he was, all he said was bollocks, he was never one of us, and he has always wanted that United job
