Man United super-starlet “in serious pain” after injury in training

France will have to go to the well once again for goalscoring options as Man United starlet Anthony Martial may be sidelined for a while.

According to Sun Sport, Martial limped out of a training session on Saturday with a left thigh injury and was described as being “in serious pain” and is in doubt for Monday’s friendly against Cameroon. Until the extent of the injury is revealed though, one can only speculate as to its seriousness.

The Man United striker finished the 2015-16 season as the team’s scoring leader, netting 11 times in the Premier League and 17 times in total. He won the prestigious Golden Boy award in 2015 after his strong season with former club Monaco and the sensational start to his Man United career. He has been capped eight times for France.

Needless to say, if the injury is severe is could be an issue for newly-hired Man United manager Jose Mourinho.

Injuries and off-the-field controversies have plagued France ahead of their Euro 2016 hosting. Jeremy Mathieu and Raphael Varane have already been ruled out due to injuries of their own, while leading scorer Karim Benzema was kicked off the team after his alleged blackmailing incident.

France manager Didier Deschamps is expected to name his final 23-man roster for Euro 2016 on Tuesday.
