The first signing of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City tenure appears to be days if not hours away as the club has agreed to acquire Borussia Dortmund star midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.

According to BBC Sport, Man City are ready to confirm their signing of Ilkay Gundogan after agreeing to a £20 million transfer from Borussia Dortmund. The 25-year-old has been an important player for the German giants over the last five years and was an integral part of Dortmund’s 2012-13 Champions League runner-up squad.

Gundogan has been hampered by injuries over the past three seasons but still managed to make 40 appearances for Dortmund.  However, he was forced to undergo knee surgery and missed the last month of Bundesliga.

The German midfielder will miss Euro 2016 as he recoers from the surgery, but the injury was not believed to have affected Man City’s decision to sign him.

In 105 appearances for Dortmund, Gundogan scored 10 goals and made 13 assists.
