Blanc’s job under threat as PSG chief admits big changes are imminent in startling interview

Paris Saint-Germain chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi has confirmed that the Ligue 1 giants are set to undergo a major overhaul imminently, which could lead to Laurent Blanc losing his job.

“If we carry on as we are doing, we’ll never get there,” the Qatari owner told Le Parisien. “It’s the time to change.”

According to the French source, Al-Khelaifi also insisted that the club are on the brink of “beginning a new cycle,” with the paper concluding by insisting that the chief inferred that Blanc’s spot as the club’s head coach could well be jeopardised by the upcoming overhaul.

Al-Khelaifi has made no bones about the fact that he is deeply disappointed by the club’s season, despite their immense success over the last 12 months.

The capital club won the league in record time, and lifted both the French Cup and the League Cup.

However, they arguably fell short in the Champions League, where they were eliminated by Manchester City in the quarter-final of the competition, having dumped Chelsea out in the Round of 16.

While PSG can clearly hold their own with Europe’s finest, a return to the final four of the competition—a stage they’ve reached once before-remains elusive.

Al-Khelaifi is clearly on the brink of losing faith in Blanc being the man to help the club achieve their ambitions on the continent.
