£12m Arsenal defender could move to Liverpool after losing starting job

The superb play of Nacho Monreal last season was a boon for Arsene Wenger – but a problem for Kieran Gibbs. The Arsenal left back lost his starting job this past season and made just three starts for the team in the Premier League. With no guarantees of first-team reps next year, the 26-year-old defender is eyeing a move north to salvage his football future.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool are prepared to make Arsenal an offer for Gibbs and are interested in seeing if he can challenge Alberto Moreno for the starting left back job.

Per the source, Newcastle United inquired Arsene Wenger about a loan deal for Gibbs during the season, but the Arsenal manager turned them down at the time. Gibbs is reportedly rated at £12 million by the Gunners.

Gibbs made 28 total appearances for Arsenal this past year but played fewer than 600 minutes in all competitions. His lone goal of the season was an equalizer against Tottenham Hotspur.
