Arsenal to follow Jamie Vardy move with swoop for another title-winning Leicester hero

Leicester City’s title-winning team is in danger of being ripped apart as Arsenal reportedly plot to follow up their swoop for Jamie Vardy by moving for Riyad Mahrez.

According to The Sun, the Gunners have met Vardy’s £20m release clause and the England international striker underwent a medical at London Colney over the weekend.

And The Sun reports that Arsenal are now in talks to bring Mahrez to the Emirates to play alongside another hero of Leicester’s fairytale Premier League triumph.

Arsene Wenger is said to be shocked at how cheap he could get the Algerian winger – last season’s PFA Player of the Year following a return of 17 goals and 11 assists.

Leicester signed Mahrez from Le Havre for only £400,000 in 2014. They will make huge profit on him, but perhaps not as much as anticipated because of his release clause.

Losing both Vardy and Mahrez would be a colossal blow to the Foxes, who relied so heavily on the attacking pair, and arguably give Arsenal the title race initiative.
