One of Liverpool‘s top players and most beloved by the fans, Philippe Coutinho had a career year for the Reds this past year and was a huge reason they were able to contend for the Europa League and League Cup titles after the brutal start to their season. As a result, Liverpool are not prepared to let him go cheap.

According to the Metro via Marca, Paris Saint-Germain tried and failed in a £23 million bid to land the Liverpool star after he finished the season as Liverpool’s second-leading goalscorer. Per the source, Coutinho has been the subject of interest from Barcelona after his strong play against Champions League contenders.

Coutinho set career highs in goals scored with 12 goals this past season: eight in the Premier League, one in the League Cup, one in the FA Cup and two in the Europa League. He was named to the Europa League Squad of the 2015-16 Season and was named the Liverpool FC Fans’ Player of the Year.

With such solid production, Liverpool have every reason to demand more money from any potential buyer.
