Video: Bale free-kick gets Wales off to dream start at Euro 2016

Wales have been tipped by many as dark horses for the Euros this summer, and if Gareth Bale is in form you can’t ever count them out. The Real Madrid star scored a fine goal against Slovakia during the first half of their Euro 2016 opener, wrong-footing the keeper far too easily.

Slovakia started well in the third game of the Euro 2016 Championships, and Marek Hamsik looked a real threat. He was denied by a Ben Davies goal line clearance, when it looked for all the world like the ball was destined for the back of the net.

Wales settled into the game quickly though, and began dominating in midfield. They were crafting a few chances for themselves and were certainly showing they deserved their place in the competition.

The breakthrough eventually came, and no surprise that it came through Gareth Bale. He wrong-footed the keeper with a wicked free-kick, wheeling away in absolute ecstasy.

It was expected that the Welsh might be a little nervous making the step up after being for so long on the big stage, but there was none of that whatsoever and they deserve their lead.
