Spanish journalist Manu Carreno has claimed that Manchester City have won the race to sign Celta Vigo winger Nolito.
Carreno dropped the transfer bomb during TV coverage of Spain’s 1-0 win over Czech Republic at Euro 2016 on Monday.
He revealed on Tele5 that City had beaten Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur to land the 29-year-old winger, who won on the pitch for 82 minutes as the defending champions edged out a plucky Czech side.
If this is true, the deal will make a big statement about the pulling power of Pep Guardiola, City’s new manager.
Nolito clearly stands a better chance of playing regularly for City than he would for Barca, but turning down the Catalan giants is still a big thing.
