Liverpool outcast set to escape Anfield with surprise summer move

Liverpool forward Mario Balotelli is closing in on a move to Besiktas, with his agent, Mino Raiola, in negotiations with the Turkish outfit.

The Italian star struggled during his loan spell with AC Milan last season, with a troublesome injury restricting him to 23 appearances in all competitions.

However, he failed to find the back of the net with any regularity during his time on the pitch and that in turn has led to the Rossoneri opting not to extend his stay.

It is widely acknowledged that Balotelli doesn’t fit into Jurgen Klopp’s plans at Anfield, and in turn he has been forced to consider his options away from England again this summer.

According to Hurriyet, that search for a new club could now take him to Turkey, with Besiktas closing in on reaching an agreement with the player according to his agent.

“I offered him to Besiktas and I’m waiting for the response,” he said. “I believe they will respond positively, because the Besiktas president has already said that he wants to reach a deal. I see a 100% probability of this transfer.”

As his chances have continued to run out during the course of his career, it remains to be seen how Balotelli now takes to the latest challenge that he faces.

The former Manchester City and Inter star has failed to deliver at the top level for a consistent period of time since leaving Milan the first time, and as a result, few will be confident that he will be able to earn a return back to a major league in Europe for the foreseeable future.
