Leicester City close to deal for £12m N’Golo Kante replacement

The Foxes are preparing for the increasing likelihood that star midfielder N’Golo Kante leaves the club after just one season, and they’re lining up a suitable replacement.

According to the Mirror, Leicester City are close to a deal for Nice star Nampalys Mendy, with a move expected to cost the Premier League champions around £12 million.

The 23-year-old Mendy plays primarily as a defensive midfielder for Nice and has missed only a handful of games in Ligue 1 over the past three seasons.

Per the source, Mendy was Leicester City’s original transfer target in 2015 before they landed N’Golo Kante.

The move worked out in the end for the Foxes as Kante quietly became one of the club’s most important supporting players during their Premier League title run and earned PFA Team of the Year honours for his efforts.
