New Chelsea manager ready to axe €15m defensive stalwart

Antonio Conte hasn’t even stepped through the front door at Stamford Bridge and he’s already sharpening the axe, ready to level it on some of Chelsea’s key players from last season – starting with Cesar Azpilicueta (aka Dave).

According to AS via Transfer Tavern, Antonio Conte is ready to sell Dave to the highest bidder, with a trio of clubs interested in his services. Per the source, the interested parties are Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Dave’s former club Athletic Bilbao. The fee is expected to be around €15 million.

Dave was one of only two Chelsea players to make at least 37 Premier League appearances for Chelsea, and led all Chelsea players with 36 starts in the ill-fated season.

He recorded two goals and three assists, and earned Man of the Match honours for his performance against Manchester United in a scoreless December tie.
