31-year-old Man City veteran likely to be shown the door

One popular Man City veteran who could be shown the door this summer is Pablo Zabaleta. The veteran defender barely saw the field last season and now seems poised to make a switch.

According to the Manchester Evening News via Transfer Tavern, Man City are willing to listen to offers for Zabaleta after the 31-year-old Argentine struggled for playing time this past season. Several unspecified clubs are reportedly interested in the Man City star.

Zabaleta was only used sparingly this past season, making 12 Premier League appearances and 22 total appearances on defense for the Citizens – his fewest in both categories since his debut season at San Lorenzo.

New manager Pep Guardiola has been working on rebuilding the team and has not been shy about getting rid of aging veterans. Martin Demichelis and Richard Wright have already been axed from the squad.
