Euro 2016 star hopes to make dream move to Chelsea

Attacking midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini has been a star for club and country under Antonio Conte dating back to his Juventus days. Now it looks like the Sunderland veteran wants to reunite with his former club manager in the Premier League.

In an interview with SportItalia via the Daily Star, Giaccherini’s agent Furio Valcareggi stated that his client dreams of making the switch to Chelsea to reunite with Antonio Conte on the club level.

Valcareggi said that Conte is fond of his client and noted that the former Juventus manager was willing to play Giaccherini at midfield even with superstars Paul Pogba, Andrea Pirlo, Arturo Vidal and Marchisio in the squad.

“Giaccherini is a player who played 80 per cent of the games for a Juventus that had Pogba, Pirlo, Vidal and Marchisio in the midfield,” Valcareggi said.

“Conte likes him a lot and Chelsea would be a dream.

“It’s still too early to talk about his future. After the Euros, whoever wants to buy him will not have to pay a high price to Sunderland.”

The 31-year-old was given a role in Conte’s Euro 2016 squad and scored a goal in Italy’s 2-0 win over Belgium.
