LFC transfer news: Reds eye £25m record-breaker, Euro 2016 star available for £10m, development in left-back search

The main LFC transfer news from this morning’s newspapers comes from the Daily Mail, who report that Liverpool are weighing up a move for Southampton star Sadio Mane.

Mane joined the Saints two years ago for £11.8m, so say The Mail, who now claim that he is worth £25m.

The 24-year-old scored 11 Premier League goals last season – one more that Roberto Firmino, who was Liverpool’s leading marksman.

Mane certainly has a keen eye for goal and he currently holds the record for quickest hat-trick in Premier League history, having bagged three times in two minutes and 56 seconds against Aston Villa in May 2015.

Another player that the Reds have been linked with is Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell, but, according to the Liverpool Echo, the 19-year-old is proving too pricey.

The Echo reveal that an offer of £5m plus £2m in add-ons has been rejected by the Foxes, who are said to be demanding £10m for Chilwell.

Liverpool’s local paper conclude that the club will look elsewhere for a new no.3, unless the Premier League champions are willing to lower their demands.

As Mane and Chilwell are discussed as possible arrivals, one player linked with a move in the opposite direction at Anfield is Wales midfielder Joe Allen.

Despite his superb form at Euro 2016, The Telegraph suggest that Liverpool are open to offers for the 26-year-old, whose contract is up next summer.

According to The Telegraph, the Reds value Allen at £10m.
