Italian journalist claims Romelu Lukaku has agreed personal terms with Arsenal

Everton striker Romelu Lukaku is expected to leave Goodison Park this summer, and according to reports, he could be set to join Arsenal.

The Gunners missed out on Jamie Vardy this week, with the Leicester City striker opting to sign a new four-year deal with the Foxes.

In turn, Arsene Wenger has been forced to look elsewhere to bolster his attacking options ahead of next season, and that search has seemingly taken him to Merseyside.

According to respected reporter Emanuele Giulianelli, as seen below on his official Twitter account, Arsenal have now agreed personal terms with the Belgian international and will now push ahead with trying to agree a fee with Everton.

The Italian journalist notes that Chelsea remain in the hunt for their former striker, but their London rivals have certainly stolen a march on them if they have indeed agreed terms with the player himself.

Nevertheless, Everton aren’t likely to allow the forward to leave easily, and they will want to secure a significant transfer fee in exchange for letting him go.

That in turn would suggest that Arsenal are still some way off securing the signing, and so it remains to be seen if the 23-year-old finds himself at the Emirates next season.

What is certain is that he will be fully focused on Belgium at Euro 2016 in the more immediate future, having helped his side book their spot in the last 16 of the tournament.
