(Video) Euro 2016: Xherdan Shaqiri scores goal of tournament contender to silence Poland

Switzerland ace Xherdan Shaqiri rescued his side on Saturday as he scored this wonder goal to bring them level at 1-1 to force extra-time against Poland.

Jakub Blaszczykowski had given his side the lead in the first-half as he produced a composed finish to complete a wonderful Poland counter-attack.

They appeared to be bound for the quarter-finals after looking comfortable for the most part after the break, but they were undone by a brilliant piece of individual skill from Shaqiri which in turn ensured that there was an additional 30 minutes in Saint-Etienne.

The Stoke City star had struggled to find a decisive touch in the final third during the game, but he saved the best until late on to keep Switzerland’s hopes alive in the tournament for the time being.

Having scored just three goals in 32 appearances for Mark Hughes’ men this past season, the 24-year-old couldn’t have picked a better time to find his goalscoring boots.
