Man United striker to be part of pre-season despite rejecting new contract

20-year-old Manchester United forward Ashley Fletcher may have a future with the club after all.

According to the Daily Star, Fletcher remains a part of Manchester United’s pre-season plan even though he has rejected a contract extension.

The source stated that Fletcher will be given an opportunity with the pre-season unit and will be a part of team that tours China this summer while the club rests players recovering from Euro 2016.

Fletcher’s current deal with the team is set to expire later this week, per the Daily Star, and he has reportedly turned down a previous offer from the Red Devils for a renewed deal.

Fletcher was promoted to the Manchester United first team for the 2015-16 season but failed to make an appearance for the team. In January 2016, he signed with Barnsley on a loan spell, during which he made 23 League One appearances and scored six goals.

On the international level, Fletcher has made two appearances for England’s Under-20 team and has two goals.
