Liverpool hopes of signing Dinamo Zagreb ace Marko Pjaca have taken a hit after it was revealed that AC Milan are the latest team to be linked with a move for the youngster.

The Rossoneri appointed Vincenzo Montella as their new coach on Tuesday, and reports are already linking them with a whole host of players.

Arguably the most exciting individual in line to join the Italian tactician’s revolution is Pjaca, who has long been touted as a target of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Croatian international is on the Milan shortlist of targets, with Leonardo Pavoletti, Roberto Soriano and Adem Ljacic joining him.

The 21-year-old was part of the Croatia squad at Euro 2016 this summer, and it came off the back of an impressive campaign with Dinamo Zagreb.

Pjaca scored 12 goals and provided six assists in 42 appearances in all competitions, and in turn certainly caught the eye of various top clubs from around Europe.

Liverpool were thought to be in with a strong chance of signing him, and they still may well be as Klopp looks to follow up the big-money signing of Sadio Mane this week.

However, with Milan in on-going negotiations over a takeover from a wealthy Chinese consortium, they are seemingly ready to make an impression in this summer’s transfer market and could beat a number of clubs including the likes of Fiorentina and Inter to Pjaca’s signing.
