Manchester City transfer news: £13.8m target flies in to complete move on Wednesday

Manchester City are reportedly on the brink of completing a deal to sign Celta Vigo winger Nolito in a £13.8m deal.

The Spanish international has been on duty with La Roja at Euro 2016 this month, but following their exit in the last-16 stage this week, he will now switch his attention to his club future.

It is expected that he will become Pep Guardiola’s second summer signing after the tactician has already swooped for Ilkay Gundogan, with The Telegraph reporting that Nolito will fly into Manchester on Wednesday wrap up the switch.

The forward scored 12 goals in La Liga last season, and was able to get on the mark at the European Championship as he scored in the 3-0 win over Turkey in the group stage.

Despite supposed interest from Barcelona, he is expected to now sign a three-year deal with City and will have his medical in the next 24 hours after the Premier League outfit triggered the release clause in his current contract with Celta.

Guardiola is officially announced as the new City boss on July 1, but that hasn’t stopped him from getting his plans in place this month as he looks to prepare his squad for his first campaign in charge in England.

Whether or not he can replicate the success he enjoyed at Barcelona and Bayern Munich remains to be seen, but he is certainly active in the market in his bid to bring in players that fit into his system and can carry out his ideas and style of play on the pitch.
