Pep Guardiola rebuild to continue as Manchester City boss eyes reunion with Spanish ace

Pep Guardiola is set to make big changes at Manchester City this summer, and it involves a reunion with Bayern Munich ace Thiago Alcantara.

Having seen his talents up close at Barcelona, the Spanish tactician opted to sign his compatriot when he took over at Bayern to continue their working partnership.

Following his move to City, it appears as though the 45-year-old is ready to bring Alcantara with him as El Confidencial suggest that the Premier League outfit are pushing forward in their bid to prise him away from the Bundesliga champions.

After suffering with injury woes early on in his time in Germany, Alcantara made 42 appearances in all competitions last season and contributed four goals and eight assists.

While Carlo Ancelotti could have big plans for him in Bavaria next season, it would arguably be difficult for the Spaniard to snub a move to England with Guardiola who is continuing his transformation of the City squad.

The former Barcelona boss has already added Ilkay Gundogan to his midfield, and evidently, he isn’t content with the options at his disposal in that area of the team with Alcantara the next on his transfer shortlist.

Guardiola needs to bring in players that are capable of implementing his ideas on the pitch and fit in to his preferred system and style of play, and Gundogan and Alcantara certainly fit the bill in that regard in terms of their ability with the ball at their feet.

Whether or not they become team-mates ahead next season remains to be seen, but it’s certainly an exciting time for City fans as they await more new faces to form part of the Guardiola revolution.
