Real Madrid join Man United in £29m transfer race for Brazilian wonderkid

19-year-old Palmeiras forward Gabriel Jesus has been making quite the name for himself in Brazil’s Serie A football league. A pair of European giants have taken notice of his exploits and want to bring him into the fold.

According to the Metro, Real Madrid are ready to make a £29 million offer for Gabriel Jesus – almost double the £15 million that Manchester United offered in June.

Last year Gabriel Jesus was voted the Serie A Newcomer of the Year after a seven-goal campaign and a Copa do Brasil title. Thus far in 2016, he has 18 goals in 29 total competitions for Palmeiras.

Jesus was a member of Brazil’s 40-man provisional squad for the 2016 Copa America Centenario, but missed the final cut. He has been capped four times for the Brazil Under-23 team and has netted three times for them.

Brazilian legend Ronaldo told Soccer Lens in April that he considers Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa to be two of the top talents in Brazilian football for years to come.
