Two years ago Jose Mourinho sold Juan Mata to Manchester United – now that the Special One is the boss at Old Trafford, he could be poised to sell the Spanish winger yet again.
According to The Sun, Everton have launched a bid of £20 million for Mata. The Sun also reported that Mata has been told he has no future with the club under Jose Mourinho, which could mean the door is open for Man United’s star playmaker to move to Goodison Park.
Jose Mourinho has a history with Mata, having sold him to Man United in January 2014 back when the pair were at Chelsea together. Per The Sun, Mourinho sold Mata for £37 million due to his belief that the 28-year-old winger would not fit into his system.
Mata had six goals and five assists in 38 Premier League appearances for Man United this past year, earning Man of the Match honors twice for his performances against Sunderland and Watford.
He also contributed three goals in the FA Cup, including one of two in the 2-1 FA Cup Final win over Crystal Palace.
