Barcelona have announced that they have opted to exercise the buy-back clause for Denis Suarez and in turn he has signed a four-year deal.

The Spaniard spent his youth career at Celta Vigo and Manchester City before joining Barca in 2013, featuring for their ‘B’ team that same year.

However, he was then sent out on loan to Sevilla to gain first-team experience, before Villarreal swooped for him last year and he went on to impress for the La Liga outfit having been given the opportunity to start regularly and showcase his ability.

Suarez made 48 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals and producing 11 assists as he helped the club to a fourth-place finish in the league.

In turn, he has earned another opportunity to shine with the Catalan giants, with Barca buying him back for €3.25m, and putting in place a buy-out clause of €50m.

The 22-year-old will put pen-to-paper on a four year deal, with an option for an extra year depending on how many appearances he makes in the last season of the initial deal.

Further, he is expected to undergo a medical on Tuesday morning before being officially unveiled by the club on Wednesday, and he will certainly relish the chance to play at the Nou Camp next season as he hopes to establish himself as a first-term regular under Luis Enrique.

Competition for places will be fierce, but given that he has proven what he can offer at this level, he should be confident of being given opportunities.
