Everton target Leicester City star

Everton are targeting a move for Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel according to the Daily Mail.

Toffees number one keeper Tim Horward has already parted ways after a long spell at the club. The American international joined MLS outfit Colorado Rapids and head coach Ronald Koeman wants a first-choice replacement.

The Toffees have already strengthened their goalkeeper position by bringing in Maarten Stekelenburg from Fulham this summer.

Koeman is keen on signing another keeper and has already been linked with Crystal Palace keeper Wayne Hennessey, Chelsea’s Asmir Begovic, Newcastle United keeper Tim Krul and Ajax’s Jasper Cillessen.

The Dutch manager has made strengthening the defence a priority after conceding 55 goals in the Premier League last season.

Schmeichel was first choice keeper for Premier League champions Leicester City last season keeping 15 clean sheets in the Foxes title run.

The Danish keeper does have another two-years remaining on his current contract but the Daily Mail do report that he is in talks over a five-year extension.
