Serie A new boys Crotone are plotting an ambitious move for Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report claims that Crotone president Raffaele Vrenna has made an enquiry for the Italian international.

Vrenna confirmed that he spoke to Balotelli’s agent Mino Raiola and that he would be delighted to have the former AC Milan man at the club.

“I made a phone call to agent Mino Raiola for Balotelli,” admitted Vrenna.

“Crotone is the ideal environment for young talent to grow and express themselves, we could be the right place to revive an incredible talent like that of Balotelli, who has unfortunately just experienced a couple of difficult seasons.”

Balotelli spent last season on loan at AC Milan scoring just three goals in 23 appearances for Italian giants in all competitions making just eight starts along the way.

The 25-year-old has now returned to Liverpool who he has a permanent deal with.

Balotelli does have another two-years remaining on his current deal but it remains to be seen if head coach Jurgen Klopp has plans for for him next season.

The Italian striker has just four goals in 28 appearances for the Reds since joining from AC Milan in 2014.
