Portugal wonderkid to take legal action following ‘fake age’ claims

Portuguese international star Renato Sanchez will take legal action against former French international Guy Roux according to Diario de Noticias for claiming he is lying about being 18-years-old.

In an interview with Dolce Sport, Roux claimed that he feels Sanches is at least five to six years older than he says he is and that it is likely that the birth date on his birth certificate is inaccurate.

“Yes, he says he is 18 years old but he must look at his past,” Roux was quoted as saying.

“Sanches’ birth was declared many years later. The date is not true.

“I believe he is 23 or 24 years old — but he is a very good player.”

Sanches started for Portugal in their 2-0 win over Wales in the Euro 2016 semi-final yesterday. The young midfielder has now started in his last two games for his national team.

The 18-year-old is the youngest player to have scored in the European Championships this summer. Sanches found the back of the net against the X in the Last 16 stage.

Sanches earned himself a big-money move to Bayern Munich at the end of the 2015-16 season after an impressive season for Portuguese giants Benfica.
