Liverpool superstar cleared of doping charges after UEFA case dropped

Liverpool may be relieved to find out that star centre-back Mamadou Sakho will be back and ready for action with no doping charges from UEFA hanging over his head.

According to the Telegraph, Sakho has been cleared to return to football after charges of a failed drug test were dropped in a hearing in Paris this past week. On Friday UEFA announced that the French superstar was exonerated of all charges.

Sakho admitted to taking a ‘slimming pill’ but his legal team argued that he took no substances that would be considered illegal.

The ban resulted in Sakho missing the final few weeks of the Premier League season as well as Liverpool’s Europa League Final against Sevilla, which the Reds lost 3-1. The punishment also forced France national team manager Didier Deschamps to exclude Sakho from his Euro 2016 lineup.

The Telegraph reported that Sakho is likely to be available for the team in Wednesday’s warmup game against Fleetwood.
