Agent for Liverpool flop says no transfer deal in place

Any Liverpool fans hoping Christian Benteke would be sold this summer to make room for a different striker will likely be disappointed as no transfer move appears to be imminent.

According to the Metro, Benteke’s agent Kismet Eris stated that there is no deal in place for the 25-year-old Belgian to go to Crystal Palace or any other club at this time and that Benteke is committed to seeing through the five-year contract he signed with the Reds in 2015.

Per the source, Crystal Palace were believed to be in the running for Benteke and had an offer on the table of £25 million or more.

Benteke joined Liverpool in a high-profile move from Aston Villa last summer, making the switch for £32.5 million (Source: Metro). But Benteke struggled to get on the field and struggled even more to score goals. He netted just nine times in 29 appearances – his lowest rate of scoring in over five years – and failing to record multiple goals in any game.

Towards the end of the year, Benteke was reduced to the third option at striker behind Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi.
