Chelsea join Arsenal in transfer race for international legend

Chelsea and Arsenal are being linked with a summer move for a Turkish legend.

Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan is one of his country’s most capped players, having turned out 94 times at senior international level, scoring 17 times.

That wedge of appearances makes Turan Turkey’s joint-fourth most-capped player alongside Tugay Kerimoglu and behind Rustu Recber, Hakan Sukur and Bulent Korkmaz.

But, although he is one of his country’s star men, Turan appears to be dispensable for his club.

According to Sport, Turan is edging towards a Nou Camp exit following an indifferent debut campaign in Catalonia.

Sport also claim that Chelsea have become the latest club to enquire about Turan’s availability, joining the likes of Arsenal, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce who are all said to be “lurking”.

Turan, at the age of 29, surely still has plenty to offer.

Although he has failed to shine at Barca, he has still managed two goals and three assists in 18 La Liga outings for the champions.
