Newcastle United have set a £35 million price tag on their star midfielder Moussa Sissoko according to The Sun.

The report states that Newcastle owner Mike Ashley is keen to cash in on Sissoko following his impressive performances during Euro 2016. The 26-year-old was one of the stars of the show in the final and has attracted the attention of Liverpool.

The Sun goes on to state that Liverpool have set aside £18 million for Sissoko however, the bid is likely to be turned down as Newcastle are keen to hold out for a higher bid.

The France international had one of the finest performances of his career during the Euro 2016 final on Sunday. The powerful midfielder frequently broke forward with the ball and provided France’s biggest threat on the night.

Sissoko provided seven assists and scored one goal for Newcastle in the Premier League this past year, but the Toons were unable to avoid the drop into the Championship division.
