Arsenal want to keep star keeper

Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina has been closely linked with a move to Besiktas over the past season but the North London based club do not want to release him.

A source close to Besiktas told Emre Sarigul they the Black Eagles did try to sign Ospina but that Arsenal want him to remain at the club next season.

Besiktas have been closely linked with the Colombian international for over a season but were unable to sign the Gunners number two keeper in January.

Black Eagles sporting director Gokhan Keskin confirmed that the Istanbul giants would like to bring in Ospina over the summer last month.

“Nothing has been agreed on yet but we are targeting Ospina,” Keskin told Turkish radio station Radyospor.

Ospina only recently returned from national duty for Colombia at the Copa America in the United States.

The 27-year-old keeper has yet to make a decision on his future but he does have another three-years remaining on his contract.

Besiktas have made strengthening their goal keeping position a priority over the summer with Champions League football looming.
