Arsenal’s star playmaker Mesut Ozil wants pay-rise

Arsenal’s star playmaker Mesut Ozil is looking for a pay rise according to the Spainish publication Sport.

The report states that the 27-year-old wants his weekly wage to be increased from the £180,000 per-week he is currently on. Both Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are due to hold contract talks with Arsenal in the coming weeks.

Ozil became Arsenal’s most expensive transfer in the history of the club after joining from Real Madrid for £42.5 million back in September 2013.

The Germany international has won two FA Cup’s since joining and was named the player of the season for his club for the 2015-16 campaign. Ozil provided 19 assists last season and came close to breaking the Premier League assist record held by Thierry Henry.

The Germany international of Turkish origin does have another two-years remaining on his contract but Sport go onto state that Gunners want to lock him down on a long term deal.
