Chelsea’s young defender Kenneth Omeruo is close to completing his season-long loan move to Besiktas.

A source close to the club told Caught Offside’s Eren Sarigul that the 22-year-old will undergo a medical with the Istanbul giants this week and that the transfer is close to completion.

Omeruo was one of 26 Chelsea players loaned out last season and one of two who joined Turkish Super Lig sides on a temporary move. The 22-year-old defender is yet to make his secnior debut for the Blue’s since joining from Standard Liege in 2012.

Besiktas won the league title last season and go into the 2016-17 campaign as one of the bookmakers favourites.

The Nigeria international is already familiar with Istanbul having played for city rivals Kasimpasa last season. Omeruo made 25 Turkish Super League appearances for Kasimpasa last season.

Besiktas won the league title last season and go into the 2016-17 campaign as one of the bookmakers favourites. If Omeruo does make the move to Besiktas, he will be able to complete in the UEFA Champions League for the first time in  his career.
