Chelsea send defender out on loan for eighth time; joins London rivals

Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas has joined Fulham on a one-year loan. The Championship club confirmed the transfer on their official website.

Caught offside recently reported that Kalas wanted to remain in England next season despite several offers.

Stars & Friends – Kalas’ management company – agent Mithat Halis told Emre Sarigul“Kalas wants to stay in England next season, preferably the Premier League. He is happy at Chelsea but Middlesbrough are interested.”

The Czech Republic international joined Chelsea from Sigma Olomouc for £5.2m in 2010 but has spent most of his time at the Blues out on loan.

Kalas helped ensure Middlesbrough won promotion last season and will be hoping to achieve the same success at Fulham this season.

The 23-year-old defender put pen to paper a new three-year deal with the Blues last season but has made just two appearances for the Premier League giants since joining from Sigma Olomou.

The defender was not picked for the Czech Republic’s Euro 2016 squad and has just three international caps under his belt since making his debut for the national team in 2012.
