N’Golo Kante Chelsea: Transfer expected over weekend as £29m fee & five-year contract agreed

Chelsea reportedly hope to conclude the signing of N’Golo Kante over weekend after putting in place a deal for the Leicester City midfielder.

Mohamed Bouhafsi – a journalist for French publication RMC Sport – claims that a £29m fee has been agreed and that Kante will sign a five-year contract.

The France international is now expected to inform Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri of his desire to leave, and will undergo a medical in the next 48 hours.

Kante joined Leicester from Caen last summer for £5.6m – fee reported by the Daily Mail – and he was one of the heroes of their shock Premier League triumph.

The 25-year-old was so good over his 33 league starts that he was voted into the PFA Team of the Year, and forced his way into France’s Euro 2016 squad.

And now Antonio Conte wants to build his Chelsea midfield around Kante after their struggles of last season, in which Nemanja Matic badly suffered for form.

Leicester have already signed Nampalys Mendy to replace Kante, should the tireless midfielder follow striker Michy Batshuayi through the door at Stamford Bridge.
