Star Leicester City playmaker tipped for exit after rejecting new contract

After contributing plenty of goals and big plays to Leicester City during their remarkable run to the Premier League title, star playmaker Riyad Mahrez might not be a part of their title defense and Champions League debut.

According to the Metro, Mahrez is unwilling to sign a new contract with the club and is considering options for a transfer away from Leicester City.

Per France Football, it is unknown whether Mahrez plans to force an early exit or wait for the right opportunity to open up.

Mahrez had one of the highest goal totals in the league last year, scoring 17 goals on his own and assisting 11 times to contribute 28 goals to the team.

For his strong play during the season, Mahrez was voted PFA Player of the Year and was a member of the PFA Team of the Year.

Earlier this summer Arsenal tried and failed to land Leicester City star forward Jamie Vardy, who opted to sign a new contract with the team instead.
