Video: Antonio Conte era at Chelsea gets off to poor start with 2-0 friendly loss

Luck was not with new Chelsea manager Antonio Conte today as the Blues manager endured a frustrating 2-0 defeat in his debut with the team for a summer friendly in Austria against Rapid Wien.

Despite fielding a solid starting XI that included the likes of Diego Costa, Willian, John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic, defensive errors marred the team early as they surrendered a goal to Joelinton at the 8th minute mark.

In the second half, numerous changes to bring on Oscar, Loic Remy and Kenedy proved fruitless as Rapid Wien scored a second goal courtesy of Tomi Correa.

Chelsea proved unable to break through and the final score was 2-0.

The result is, of course, meaningless and wasn’t even the first time that a team consisting mainly of Chelsea backups lost to a seemingly inferior team.

Nonetheless, it was no doubt a frustrating debut for the new Chelsea manager.
