Everton seem to be preparing for life after John Stones as they line up a swoop for Netherlands international defender Bruno Martins Indi.

The Sun reports that Stones is moving closer to leaving Goodison Park as Manchester City prepare a £50m swoop for the ball-playing centre-back.

New Toffees manager Ronald Koeman sees Martins Indi as a smart replacement for Stones and is targeting a £12.5m move, according to The Sun.

The Sun adds that Martins Indi wants out of Porto and that the Portuguese giants would be willing to sanction his departure to England at the right price.

The 24-year-old has 31 international caps and Champions League and World Cup experience, so should not be phased be the challenge of the Premier League.

Koeman may be in the market for more defensive reinforcements with Phil Jagielka and Ramiro Funes-Mori his only other senior centre-backs if Stones leaves.
