Turkish champions set to enter talks with Chelsea over striker

Besiktas have been in pursuit of a new striker ever since Mario Gomez revealed he will not be returning to the Istanbul giants.

Gomez was the top goal scorer for the Istanbul giants playing a key role in winning the league title and he also earned a place back in the Germany national team.

The powerful striker was selected for the Euro 2016 squad and scored twice in Gemany’s path to their semi-finals.

Besiktas are targeting Chelsea striker Loic Remy as a potential replacement for Gomez a source close to the Eagles told Emre Sarigul.

The Istanbul giants will make an enquiry regarding Remy’s availability and push for a loan if the Blues give the green light.

Besiktas could struggle to sign Remy on a permanent deal unless Chelsea accept a price that would keep the Eagles within the FFP guidelines.

Remy would be almost guaranteed first team football were he to join and Besiktas will feature in the Champions League group stages next season.
