Chelsea playmaker Oscar was reportedly the subject of an enquiry from Inter on Sunday, leading to talk that he could leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

The Brazilian international scored eight goals and provided five assists in 40 appearances in all competitions last season, as he suffered a noticeable dip from the previous campaign.

It was certainly a disappointing season for the 24-year-old as Chelsea ended the year in 10th place in the Premier League, just a year on from winning the title.

Along with many of his teammates, he would have arguably hoped to have proven his worth to new boss Antonio Conte ahead of the new campaign, although it appears as though the Italian tactician’s desire to keep him is set to be tested.

According to Sky Sport Italia expert Gianluca Di Marzio, the Nerazzurri have asked about the midfield ace, and at this stage it is merely a request to test the waters and gain an idea of Chelsea’s position on the matter as opposed to talks taking place over a transfer.

Conte certainly has several options in midfield this season, with new signing N’Golo Kante added to the mix, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek could be handed a more prominent role.

Add the likes of Willian, Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas, Nemanja Matic and Pedro to the pot of competition along with other youngsters, and Conte could be in the market to make space in his squad and raise further transfer funds.

Oscar would undoubtedly be disappointed to leave west London, and time will tell whether or not Chelsea are open to the idea of selling him this summer with Inter waiting for an answer.
