Divisive former Manchester United boss eyes Old Trafford raid amid injury crisis

Sunderland manager David Moyes is reportedly looking at deals to sign Manchester United pair Adnan Januzaj and Will Keane ahead of the new season.

The former United boss knows the pair well from his short stint at Old Trafford, and will look to take advantage of their current situation under Jose Mourinho.

As he faces his own injury crisis and is desperate to bring in new faces, Moyes is aware that the pair don’t figure in Mourinho’s plans moving forward and will move to sign them this week, according to The Express.

After taking charge of the Black Cats last month, the Scottish tactician has seen a number of key players pick up issues and has been left with just 11 fit senior individuals after their latest pre-season friendly.

In turn, he is looking to move quickly to bring in reinforcements, with neither Januzaj nor Keane expected to feature at United this season.

The Belgian starlet made an exciting initial impact at Old Trafford in 2013, but has gradually fallen out of favour since and has failed to feature at all more recently.

A disappointing loan spell with Borussia Dortmund followed last year, but having also failed to make an impression there, it had been unclear as to what was next for the 21-year-old.

Moyes, who was in charge at the time of Januzaj’s breakthrough, will possibly feel as though he can get the best out of the youngster again and will look to Keane to add depth up front.

After finishing 17th in the Premier League last season and having lost Sam Allardyce to the England job last month, concerns will certainly be growing at Sunderland in the coming weeks.
