Facebook: Diego Maradona sends warning to Juventus

For Napoli’s 90th birthday, we have to share the heart-felt words of Diego Maradona as he celebrated his beloved club’s anniversary and sent a word of warning to bitter rivals Juventus.

“Another 90 years full of victories,” he wrote poignantly on Facebook. “We want to be number one”.

Napoli turn 90 years old on Monday evening, and few players are as synonymous with the West Coast club as El Pibe.

The Argentine World Cup winner sent his wishes to the team and its fans through a few lines on his profile.

“1926-2016. Happy birthday Naples!!!” he began. “I want to wish the best to all the Neapolitans. A club is nothing without its people, its fans.”

Maradona continued to demonstrate his love by remembering his time spent with the Partenopei: “I am proud that I played there for seven years, and I remember this with great emotion.

“There will be another 90 years full of victories, because we do not want to be second or third. We want to be number one,” he said, in words that may make Juve sit up and take notice.

The former number 10 sent a clear message to show his attachment to Napoli’s jersey, but also to warn their rivals who recently acquired Gonzalo Higuain, the man who sustained hope for Napoli last season with his 30 goals.

Napoli finished second last season and now they are looking forward to the Champions League, although without Higuain, few will be expecting them to make a significant impact.
