Arsenal supporters have been left far from impressed with Theo Walcott’s latest suggestion that he now wants to play as a right winger.
The 27-year-old made his desire to play as a striker publicly known for years, but after failing to deliver the goals required of a top-class forward, he’s now had a change of heart.
With the Gunners looking for a new striker this summer with the likes of Mauro Icardi and Alexandre Lacazette linked with a move to the Emirates, Walcott has now conceded he’s ready to drop back to being a winger.
“I want to make my position on the right – that’s where I know where I am now. I’ve told the manager that I want to be known for playing on the right again, although I can play up front,” Walcott said.
“I want to know where I want to play. The manager has said I can play up front. It depends on what game it is. I know I can do a job up front as well as on the right.”
Here’s the reaction, and wasn’t all particularly kind…
@SkyFootball prove yourself as a footballer first

@SkyFootball
We should sell him. West Ham or Liverpool can have him for £15m. He’s good enough to play for them.— Jack Blackwell (@jack_blackwell) August 3, 2016
@SkyFootball oh just go away Theo

@SkyFootball Well he needs to prove himself as something. He’s not getting any younger.

Walcott couldn’t make it as a winger, so he chose striker & was even worse. Sell up & move on, he’s costing us a fortune & delivering zilch.
