Everton to hand star striker bumper deal to fend off Chelsea interest

Everton are preparing to offer their star striker Romelu Lukaku a new improved contract in order to fend off interest from Chelsea according to the Mirror.

The report states that Everton have no intention of selling the Belgium international however, he is keen to work with Antonio Conte at Chelsea.

The Mirror goes onto say that Everton have offered Romelu Lukaku a new deal worth £135,000-a-week.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are understood to be preparing a record breaking £65 million bid for Lukaku according to The Mirror. Per the source, the Blues are planning to break the British transfer record for the Belgium international striker. The report also states that Chelsea are prepared to include Loic Remy in the deal.

However, the Daily Star state that the Blues have already had bids of £57 and £60m turned down.

Lukaku joined Everton in a £28 million move (fee reported by BBC Sport) from Chelsea in 2014 and scored 25 times in 46 appearances last season.
