Chris Hughton’s side were unlucky not to come away from Derby last weekend, and after being held to a goal-less draw the Seagull’s will be looking to impress in their opening home game and go one better than last season’s performance, where they were unlucky to miss out on promotion with 89pts.
With an impressive top six finish in three of their last four season, Seagulls fans will be hoping this really is their year.
On paper at least, the side looks stronger, with Glenn Murray being brought in from Bournemouth on loan giving the side added firepower, although he missed a hatful of chances against Derby in the season opener, while Northern Ireland international Oliver Norwood has been brought in from Reading.
The home side are well fancied tonight to take maximum points.
Meanwhile their opponents Nottingham Forest struggled to beat Championship new boys Burton Albion 4-3 at the City Ground and its clear they will have to improve if they want to take any sort of result back to the Midlands.
A midweek 2-1 win over Doncaster will have boosted confidence in the squad, with nine changes made to the side.
Manager Philippe Montanier will be impressed with the form of the returning Britt Assombalonga, who came back from injury to smash two goals in their opening victory over Burton, although there have been rumours this week that Norwich have been sniffing round the striker, with a view to a possible move
Much will depend on the Nottingham Forest hitman this season, if Forest can keep him fit, then a playoff place could be a possibility.
Brighton v Nottingham Forest Match Odds
Brighton are the favourites at home and can be backed at a price of around 4/5, while the Nottingham Forest away win can be taken at 7/2, which could attract some money. This early in the season, the home banker is never certain.
Better value can be had on backing Assombalonga to score the first goal at around 6/1.
It all kicks off at Brighton’s Amex Ground at 19:45. Make sure you tune in.
