Chelsea have been offered £2.58 million for John Obi Mikel from Turkish giants Galatasaray according to AMK.

The report claims that Galatasaray have also put forward a lucrative three-year deal for Mikel worth £2.58 million per-season.

The 28-year-old has just a year remanning on his currently contract and the Blues have yet to show an interest in extending his current deal.

Per the source, Chelsea could be tempted into parting ways with Mikel now and making a return on his sale instead of allowing his contract to run out and letting him leave as a free agent.

Lions sporting director Levent Nazifoglu did reveal that the club would seek alternatives after Liverpool ruled out a move for Lucas Leiva following weeks of negotiations.

“We are no longer pursuing Lucas Leiva, we will continue efforts to sign alternative names instead,” Nazifoglu was quoted as saying by Turkish-football.com.

Besiktas were recently linked with Mikel but his representative told BBC African football journalist Oluwashina Okeleji that he will be staying at Chelsea over the summer.

Okeleji told Emre Sarigul“Conte wants him to stay at the club and he’s also off to the Olympics.”

The 28-year-old midfielder has been at the Rio Olympics with the Nigerian national side and will miss the Blues first game of the season against West Ham in the London derby.

Mikel has won the Champions League, Europa League, two Premier League titles, four FA Cup titles and two League Cup titles with Chelsea since joining 10 seasons ago.
