Chelsea should make £70m bid for Arsenal star who provided 19 assists last season says former England international

The former England international and football pundit Stan Collymore has told the Mirror that Chelsea should sign Mesut Ozil from Arsenal this summer.

In his column for the Mirror, Collymore states that the Blues should table a £70 million bid for the former Real Madrid man. Collymore went onto state that Ozil is a better player than Cesc Fabregas.

“I just don’t see Fabregas as a great No.10 – he’s a Jack of all trades and master of none. He’s not in the same league, for example, as Mesut Ozil, who can do much more in bossing games,” Collymore told the Mirror.

“While I’m sure Ozil won’t be going anywhere, if I was Conte, I’d put in a cheeky £60-£70million bid to see if it got him.

The 27-year-old playmaker was left in the Arsenal squad which was defeated by Liverpool earlier today. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has given Ozil an extended break after he lead Germany to the semi-finals of Euro 2016 where he scored one goal and provided one assist.

Ozil finished last season as having the most assists in the Premier League with 19, just one assist of equalling Thierry Henry.

Chelsea host their London based rivals West Ham United at Stamford Bridge in their opening game of the 2016-17 Premier League season.
